Leonardo de Alba is a Cape Cod residing artist presenting his debut exhibition in the region. Originally from Puerto Rico where he had established his career in graphic art and design since 1990.  Leonardo has previously exhibited at the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico and the Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Diseño de Puerto Rico. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts with a concentration in Painting and a major in Art Education from the prestigious 300 Year Old Institution: Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Diseño de Puerto Rico in Old San Juan, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.

 

Through his work in mixed media, combining acrylic, iron oxide, and concrete, materials become memory, presence and metamorphosis. Home is a concept where one feels peace, love, and freedom. His current work bridges both places, drawing from the architectural forms of Cape Cod and the color, texture, and raw presence of Caribbean concrete. This body of work reflects his evolution in the use of color, materials, and techniques, bringing together pieces from different moments in his life. Each work holds a distinct emotion, echoing the dynamic nature of life. His process is physical and intuitive, building layered surfaces that feel both constructed and weathered.
